Renee and I headed to Crofton, Maryland to spend a few days with Caroline and her family this spring break. Painting and playing with Emma and Jack was a blast. A day trip to Annapolis provided a delicious opportunity to admire the boats, eat Mexican for lunch, and end the day with huge scoops of vanilla ice cream with sprinkles while browsing the storefronts.

Birthday Weekend in Asheville

Caroline and I celebrate our birthdays together every year. This year, we landed in Asheville and had a blast! Leah was invited along for the first time. At lunch on day two, Leah asked, "How do I know when I am grown up?" I responded, "When you get invited to join Caroline and me for our birthdays!

Looking to Nature...Durham Arts Council Opening
The opening reception for my solo exhibition on November 20 was good! In addition to be well-attended by friends and family, it was the first opening during which I wasn't desperate to run and hide in the corner. Art exhibitions are an excellent opportunity for an artist to show her work to the general public, however, this opportunity comes with heaping spoonfuls of vulnerability. But it was good this time! Thank you, friends and family.

Happy Birthday Aidan and Leah
Leah gave birth to Aidan 5 years ago tomorrow! I was with her every step of the way, weeping with her over her decision to let another family raise her son, but rejoicing in knowing that Kevin and Jana were designed by God to raise this precious baby boy.
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:13-16
