Snow Day!

I have anxiously awaited a snow day for years now. For some unknown reason, the year that I returned to full-time employment as a teacher and administrator was the last year of the coveted snow days that teachers and students crave alike.

But today, I awoke to snow. Real snow (at least by North Carolina standards). A day to watch a historic inauguration, put the final touches on a landscape watercolor class that was supposed to start today, and make some art (I hope). It is also a day to make hot chocolate and grilled cheese sandwiches for my girls and watch them go in and out of the front door a thousand times. They are scrambling around in the attic to find anything resembling snow attire!

The Secret Life of Beeswax

Yay! I've had more time than usual for beeswax this past week. I am teaching a beeswax class to 10 students these first two weeks of January and after class on a few afternoons, I have been able to dip a paintbrush into the crockpot of melted wax and play a bit. My students are doing beautiful work in class. Check out the gallery of student work at http://www.thesecretlifeofbeeswax.blogspot.com/.
